Wondering why you need a Real Estate Agent? As a long-time Real Estate Agent I have encountered some version of the question “why do I need a Realtor” a number of times before. Though I have been fortunate to work with many great clients who do not ask me this question, I recognize that many people are just simply not aware of how much work goes into selling a home. In 2007, Pat Vredevoogd-Combs, past president of the National Association of REALTORS, testified before the House Financial Services Committee on Housing in rebuttal to government complaints about industry pricing.
In addition to her testimony, she provided a comprehensive list of at least 184 things that listing agents do in every real estate transaction. During her argument, she said, “the general public is not aware of all the services that agents provide to sellers and buyers during the course of the transaction, probably because most of the important services are performed behind the scenes.”
While this list is widely available, I wanted to share it on my website to better help sellers understand the critical role Real Estate Agents play in your real estate transaction.
